BAIDATA in 2024: a year of growth and talent development
December 23, 2024
DESCRIPCIÓN
2024 has been a year of growth for the data economy and for the BAIDATA community. In addition to advancing in our geographical expansion and consolidating our position as the main association for the development of the data economy in the Iberian Peninsula, during this year we have increased our range of services, both for members and for other professionals in the technology and industrial sector.
We have also contributed to the dissemination of knowledge, to the generation of an ecosystem of cooperation around the data economy and to the construction of the Single Data Market in Europe, through our participation in top-level European projects. These have been the most outstanding activities of BAIDATA in 2024:
Data Spaces Professional Qualification Programme (DS-PQP)
The collaboration between BAIDATA and the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) has resulted in the implementation of this professional certification, which provides participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to operate in an increasingly digitized and data-driven environment. The new DS-PQP professional certifications have the international recognition provided by IDSA, accredit highly demanded skills and abilities and open the doors to a myriad of job opportunities.
During the last months of 2024, face-to-face and online exams have been held and the first professionals have already been certified. The official Authorized Training Provider of the DS-PQP, the company Software Quality Systems (SQS) has given preparation courses in Bilbao, Barcelona and Madrid, laying the foundations for the geographical expansion of this program.
III BAIDATA Forum
On May 8, the third edition of the Iberian Peninsula's benchmark event on data spaces was held, bringing together almost 400 national and international experts and professionals from the world of business and research. During the day we could listen to representatives of companies such as NTT Data, BMW, Volkswagen, EITB or Innovalia Association, who shared their experience in the development of specialized projects and in the construction of international data ecosystems. An example for companies that aspire to connect their businesses to the data economy.
In 2025, the fourth edition of the BAIDATA Forum will be held on June 26th at the Euskalduna Palace (Bilbao) and on this occasion we offer you the opportunity to present your project to a global audience through our call for papers. In this link you can check the requirements, the available topics and fill out the form to submit your paper proposal. We are waiting for you!
BAIDATA Hackathon Challenge
On November 11, in parallel to the celebration of the DOK Summit Bilbao 2024, we carried out the BAIDATA Challenge, framed in the Digital Education Hackathon of the European Commission (DigiEduHack 2024).
The objective of this hackathon was to establish a space for collaboration and creativity in which participants could develop applications aimed at optimizing learning and knowledge assessment, ensuring a secure and scalable data exchange in real educational environments. The winning team was MentorAI, which thanks to its solution to transform digital education through AI received exclusive prizes from BAIDATA and the opportunity to present its project at the DigiEduHack Global Awards.
Welcome to new BAIDATA partners
In this 2024, BAIDATA has reached nearly 55 members committed to the momentum and development of data spaces. We are therefore pleased to welcome new BAIDATA partners: Deusto-Seidor, Ayesa, Sandetel, Imageryst, Ceit and Ingartek. Their incorporation will strengthen our network and contribute to the advancement of data spaces. We are confident that these new additions will bring great opportunities for growth and collaboration for all.
Exclusive services for partners
During 2024 we have continued to work to help our partners become key players in the data economy. Through exclusive trainings, which have been rolled out throughout the year, association members have been able to access comprehensive educational content, ranging from an introduction to data spaces to the development of IDS components and tools. In 2025, these trainings will be online, with the aim of bringing them closer to our members throughout the peninsula and adapting to the progressive expansion of the BAIDATA community.
Another important initiative aimed at our partners is the bonus program, an initiative that allows you to get the most out of your data and to experiment, certify and operate with data spaces to facilitate their integration with IDSA infrastructures. These are grants of between 15,000 and 30,000 euros that our partners can access to access data sharing infrastructures or develop new technologies related to the sector.
European projects and international events
After carrying out the kick-off at the end of 2023, this year has been key for European projects such as TEMS (audiovisual sector), CIRPASS-2 (product digital passport) and SM4RTENANCE (industrial sector), in which we have participated with the aim of boosting the data economy, fostering talent training and creating common, open and interoperable data spaces.
In addition, we have participated in events of international scope to transmit the functioning, achievements and success stories of the association. In 2024 we have been present at events such as the Mobile World Congress, Gaia-X Summit, DSSC Symposium, Data Spaces Summit or Hannover Messe, among others.
We thank all our partners and professionals who have contributed to the growth of the BAIDATA community for their trust and proactivity. We face 2025 with enthusiasm and with the intention of continuing to grow, training future experts in the data economy and making our services available to all companies in the Iberian Peninsula interested in joining the data spaces.
