BAIDATA takes part at the Data Spaces Symposium 2025

March 17, 2025

DESCRIPCIÓN

On March 11 and 12, the Data Spaces Symposium 2025 was held in Warsaw, a worldwide reference event jointly organized by the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) and the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA), which brings together entities such as Gaia-X, IDSA, FIWARE and BDVA.

This event brought together the main international experts in the data spaces sector and more than 800 attendees in person. With representatives from Brazil, China, USA, Canada and all of Europe, this event confirmed the global nature of data spaces, which respond to the needs of an interconnected and digitized world.

The two days of panels, round tables and presentations highlighted the global impact of data sharing, presented new business opportunities within the data economy and exposed new points of view on key issues for the development of the sector:

  • The relationship between AI and data spaces: AI models require large amounts of data, and data spaces provide a structured and governed environment for accessing and sharing this data, thus accelerating the development of AI. In this way, properly optimized data spaces have the potential to become true enablers for AI. Especially in Europe, the potential of generative AI will only be fully deployed if we create sovereign and interoperable data spaces.

  • Advances in interoperability: Interoperability is the great challenge of the coming years. Without global standards and semantic interoperability, data spaces can only be isolated solutions. For this reason, a 'by design' approach to standardization and interoperability was presented at the Data Spaces Symposium, in order to avoid future integration problems and maximize the value of interconnected data spaces.

  • New announcements from DSSC: Among the highlights of the two-day event was the presentation of the latest DSSC news to facilitate the creation and adoption of data spaces. These include the release of the DSSC Blueprint 2.0, which updates the set of guidelines to be followed to support the data spaces development cycle. During the Data Spaces Symposium, the DSSC Toolbox success stories were also presented, which highlight the power of collaboration, interoperability and innovation to extract value from data.

BAIDATA has been present at this great event through our general secretary, Óscar Lázaro, who presented the current status of the SM4RTENANCE project, a European initiative led by Innovalia Association and which aims to revolutionize the industrial sector through the creation of a common data ecosystem, which can streamline asset management and improve predictive maintenance. In addition, he also participated in a panel discussion on generating value in the media and linguistic data spaces.

See you next year with new ideas and new projects to continue building a global data economy!
