Deusto and Telefónica promote the Chair in Data Economy as a reference hub for digital transformation

DESCRIPCIÓN

The University of Deusto and Telefónica have launched a new Chair in Data Economy, an academic initiative designed to become a leading reference in research, education, and knowledge dissemination on the strategic value of data for society and businesses. The Chair will explore the role of data as an economic asset, as well as the legal frameworks related to data ownership, sharing, and reuse.

The initiative will promote data-sharing models between organisations, foster privacy by design, and encourage transparency and citizen control over data use. Through applied research activities, training programmes, publications, and forums with national and international experts, the Chair will contribute to the development of the data economy in the Basque Country, strengthening links between academia, industry, and public administrations, and aligning with regional priorities in innovation and digital transformation.
