Data Spaces Dialogue | How the BAIDATA ecosystem helps realize true data spaces

The International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) has organised this Data Spaces Dialogue to raise awareness about the BAIDATA initiative it created in 2022 together with the Innovalia Association, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Gaia Cluster-Association of Knowledge Industries and Applied Technologies of the Basque Country.

The event will also serve to make known exactly what BAIDATA is, who is behind it and how it is helping to transform society and the economy of the territory through data spaces.

Two examples will provide the evidence:

• The Biscay regional government is building a data space where personal data is made available in a sovereign and GDPR-compliant manner; small and start-up companies are developing IDS-compliant solutions relevant to society.
• The Basque Energy Cluster is developing a data space where data from offshore wind turbines are available, giving operators control over them while service and maintenance providers can use them to optimise their operations and reduce costs.

In the Data Spaces Dialogue, IDSA Managing Director Thorsten Huelsmann will talk to the persons in charge of BAIDATA  as well as to the brains behind the two data spaces. The guiding thought will be the following: Who benefits from the participation in the data spaces? Is it perhaps simply every participant? How exactly does this work?
