This BAIDATA document, a Spanish translation of IDSA’s “Observability in Data Spaces,” explains why observability is key to building trust and governance in data spaces. It distinguishes between observing the activities and states of the data space protocol (catalogue, contract negotiation and transfer) and service telemetry, and separates both from data provenance and traceability. It presents the observer as a business role, which can be a third party or even one of the parties themselves, and describes an example process to set it up, with centralized, federated or decentralized solutions depending on the governance rules. It includes use cases such as billing, compliance in AI model training, the Mobility Data Space and the tracking of standards adoption. It closes with open challenges: confidentiality of observability data, automated compliance and the shift from the Clearing House concept to the observer role.
