Summer is just around the corner, bringing with it the urge to slow down and recharge after months of intense work. But before we switch off, we want to pause for a moment and look back with pride: the first months of 2026 have been a key period for consolidating the BAIDATA ecosystem and the rollout of data spaces across the Iberian Peninsula.

This momentum is, above all, thanks to our members. Through your initiative, commitment and vision, we have turned major strategic challenges into concrete achievements, strengthening both European and national digital sovereignty.

🌐 Institutional influence: from Europe to the national stage

At BAIDATA, we don’t just keep an eye on national and European developments — we actively take part in them. We are present in the initiatives that are shaping the standards, regulations and technical architectures that will govern the European Union’s digital future:

• At European level, through strategic initiatives such as TEMS or CIRPASS-2, our ecosystem is directly involved in defining the technical architectures that will shape the digital future. This standing is further reinforced by the talent within our network, as shown by Vicomtech’s recognition as a Key Innovator by the European Commission, and Antonio Jara’s (CTO of Libelium) appointment to the Eclipse Foundation’s board.
• At national level, we continue to strengthen our role as a key voice in the sector. We maintain close collaboration with CRED and the Ministry for Digital Transformation through the Data Economy Working Group. We are also helping shape the future of standardization through our participation in UNE’s Data Spaces subcommittee, a forum where we join forces with IDSA and several of our members, showing our ecosystem’s ability to coordinate and drive change together.

🤝 Tools for the community and valuable new projects

Meeting the market’s challenges is a collective effort. On one hand, the BAIDATA Catalogue has established itself as the go-to reference for finding trusted providers and driving the adoption of data spaces with full guarantees.

On the sector front, member-led initiatives continue to set the pace with major milestones:

• Industry and Automotive: We celebrate a landmark strategic milestone with the launch in Spain of the Catena-X Competence Centre, led by Asociación Innovalia, placing our ecosystem at the heart of Europe’s industrial value chain.
• Mobility and Logistics: Mobility Lab earned recognition, winning the Copa España Creativa Córdoba 2025 for its shared digital environment project.

This track record of success keeps attracting new players: in recent months we’ve welcomed new members such as LIN3S and Cruz Roja, further confirming that BAIDATA is the go-to space for building shared data strategies.

🏆 Knowledge sharing and excellence within the community

Our “Data in Action” webinars and technical and regulatory “Deep Dives” have kept the network connected and up to date.

The year was capped off by the Data Economy Week and the 5th BAIDATA Forum, where we presented the BAIDATA Awards to showcase the sector’s best practices:

• Anjana Data: Recognized for its data governance platform for shared environments.
• SEGITTUR: Awarded for its leadership in rolling out the tourism sector’s data space.
