Experts from IDTA, buildingSMART Deutschland, universities, and companies have made progress in developing the IFC-AAS Connector for Building Equipment, an initiative that aims to link information from Building Information Modeling (IFC) models with standardized digital asset information based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS).
The goal is to facilitate access to structured asset information throughout the entire asset lifecycle by linking data generated during planning and construction with data used later in operations and maintenance. The recent workshop helped define the scope of version 1.0, which will feature a minimal connector model focused on establishing the link between IFC and AAS, while various use cases are developed in parallel.
