Spain is accelerating projects relating to data spaces and smart mobility
Spain is speeding up the development of smart mobility through initiatives that combine artificial intelligence and data spaces. The recent Sustainable Mobility Act promotes the creation of the Integrated Mobility Data Space (EDIM), an infrastructure designed to facilitate the secure and interoperable exchange of information between public authorities, transport operators and technology companies.
Connected vehicles already generate large volumes of data that enable routes to be optimised, services to be improved and new AI-based applications to be developed. However, to transform this data into value, it is necessary to guarantee data sovereignty and collaboration based on interoperability amongst the various stakeholders in the sector. Data exchange is becoming a strategic element in driving efficient and connected mobility, as demonstrated by innovative projects such as the Basque connected mobility corridor and the new sector-specific data spaces.
