The Basque Government has approved the first competitive call for proposals under the ‘Faros de Innovación’ program, with a maximum budget of 19 million euros to support strategic projects and scientific and technological infrastructure during the 2026–2028 period. The initiative is structured around two lines: Erronkak, focused on high-impact projects, and Plataformak, aimed at developing and strengthening strategic capabilities and infrastructure.
This second line specifically addresses the creation and optimization of data spaces, as well as the connection of Basque platforms with European and international initiatives. These infrastructures can help facilitate the secure exchange of information and collaboration among stakeholders to drive new innovation projects. Proposals must include, at a minimum, one scientific partner from the Basque Network for Science, Technology, and Innovation (such as BAIDATA) and another partner that actively participates in the definition, development, validation, adoption, or scaling of the results.
