Data in Action: One Health data space: insights from CESGA

In this talk, CESGA presents the DATAlife One Health Multisectoral Demonstration Centre, an innovative data hub launched as part of the Data Hub Promotion Plan by the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence. This centre aims to facilitate the secure and controlled exchange of data within the One Health framework, which integrates human health, animal health and environmental sustainability.

CESGA, a public research foundation dedicated to scientific advancement since 1993 and a node of the Spanish Supercomputing Network, is leading this initiative, offering a decentralised, secure and interoperable platform. The One Health strategy addresses key sectors such as hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, the agri-food industry, aquaculture, veterinary care and sectors related to environmental care, such as water quality and forestry.

The Demonstration Centre already has deployed technologies, including a FarmaciaVAX pilot with D-Spacer and an on-premise data space using XDataShare technology, which enable the development of real-world use cases and attract new participants. The session also featured an MVD demo, showcasing the exchange of non-sensitive vaccination data between pharmacies and health services, whilst ensuring privacy and control. Practical use cases, such as vaccination management in pharmacies, form part of a system aligned with European standards such as DSSC, IDSA and Gaia-X, promoting regulatory compliance and data sovereignty.
