The digital transformation of the health and social care sector requires new ways of managing, sharing, and leveraging data in a secure, interoperable, and people-centered manner. In this context, EDS2, a Data Spaces Demonstrator Center for the health and social care sector, has been created.

EDS2 aims to drive a new generation of data-driven services, promoting innovation, efficiency, and improved care quality in the field of health and social services. The project seeks to facilitate access to digital infrastructures and advanced technologies, foster new service models, and generate an ecosystem of collaboration among public, private, technological, and socio-health stakeholders.

During this Unboxing session, we presented EDS2 together with GAIA, exploring its value proposition and real use cases that are already underway. In addition, the SQS team delivered a live demo of dSpacer, the technological platform underpinning the data space, where we were able to see in action the management of connectors, data catalogs, transaction control, and participant registry.

There are two ways to participate in EDS2: as a Promoter, for organizations that want to create and govern their own trusted environment; or as a Participant, joining existing environments to publish or consume data.

Among the use cases, the digital passport of healthcare training has been highlighted, which connects sector workers with public administrations, and ATDOC, a use case focused on building a comprehensive profile of dependent elderly people by integrating data from multiple sources, among others.
