The European project CIRPASS-2 is leading the drive for the Digital Product Passport (DPP), a key tool on the path towards a more circular, transparent, and sustainable economy. This initiative is part of the European Union’s efforts to improve product traceability and environmental monitoring throughout the product lifecycle.

In this Data in Action session, organised by :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}, we explore this European project and how this tool is intended to be put into practice, demonstrating its large-scale implementation across sectors such as textiles, electronics, tyres, and construction products.

CIRPASS-2 objectives:

  • Implement DPPs at scale and under real-world conditions.
  • Demonstrate their use in B2B environments.
  • Support the development of common standards (CEN/CENELEC).
  • Ensure interoperability between pilots.
  • Facilitate DPP adoption by SMEs.
  • Prepare deployment in other sectors covered by future European regulations.

In addition, CIRPASS-2 is contributing to the technical and regulatory development of the DPP, in coordination with European standardisation bodies such as CEN and CENELEC.
